Official Box League Rules
1. Match Format & Scoring (WSF Singles Rules 2024)
Matches are played as **best of 5 games** (first to 3 games wins). Each game uses the **PAR 15** system (Point-A-Rally to 15 points). If the score is 14-14, one player must win by 2 clear points.
2. League Points Allocation
You earn **1 point for every game won** in your box matches (maximum of 3 points per match). For example, a 3-1 win gives the winner 3 points and the loser 1 point. A default/walkover counts as a 3-0 win (3 points).
3. Promotion & Relegation
At the end of each monthly round, the **top 2 players** in each box are promoted to the next box, while the **bottom 2 players** are relegated. Middle players stay safe.
4. Match Scheduling & Coordination
All match scheduling can be coordinated in-app using the **Direct Chat or Group Chat** tool on your dashboard. Alternatively, players are welcome to arrange matches via their own WhatsApp communications.
5. Cancellations & Walkovers (Defaults)
To preserve the league's competitive balance, players must adhere to the following defaults protocol:
- No-Show: Failure to pitch up for a scheduled match without at least 3 hours' warning results in a walkover (3-0 win, 3 points).
- Short-Notice (Under 12h): Cancelling a scheduled match with less than 12 hours' notice entitles the opponent to claim a walkover, unless they mutually agree to reschedule.
- Non-Responsiveness: If a player does not respond to at least 3 scheduling attempts over the course of the monthly round, a walkover may be claimed through the league secretary.
- Injuries & Withdrawals: If a player withdraws mid-round, walkovers are only awarded to opponents who had formally agreed and scheduled matches with them. Unscheduled matches do not result in walkovers.
